At the Hondo church of Christ, Our three-fold mission is the same as it was 2,000 years ago: to encourage one another in our service to Christ, to reach out to others with the simple Truth of the Gospel so that they too can share our joy, and to help those who are in need. We do each of these things collectively, and as individuals serving a common goal of glorifying Christ.
We believe that the Bible is from God and it expresses God’s will to man. We strive to follow the teachings of the Bible to be Christians. When you participate in our worship you will find things done according to the New Testament pattern, communion on Sundays, baptism in water, acappella music that everyone is privileged to participate in, and a simple declaration of Truth straight from the text of the Bible.
We are undenominational and have no central headquarters or president. The head of the church is none other than Jesus Christ himself (Ephesians 1:22-23). Each congregation of the churches of Christ is autonomous, and it is the Word of God that unites us into One Faith (Ephesians 4:3-6). We follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and his holy Apostles, and not the teachings of man. We are Christians only!
We are not just a group of people who come together once or twice a week. We are a group of friends. We are a family. We enjoy spending many hours together during worship and at other times, looking forward to the day that we will worship together at God's Throne in Heaven.
